EFFAT HAS A NEW WEBSITE

Posted on Posted in Effat

Dear All,

I am happy to announce that EFFAT has a new website and it is finally online!
www.effat.org
Our goal with this new designed website is to create a user-friendly platform for our affiliates and for the wider public, which allows the user to get a firsthand sense of what EFFAT does, where it’s active and what issues our organisation fights for.
The content you will see on the new platforms will not differ much from the ones you are used to see.

However we chose to:
• Organise things more clearly by our 3 sectors (+ company work)
• Add sub-areas (precarious work, health and safety, collective bargaining, social dialogue, migration etc) to collect news that are not strictly sectorial.
• Pay more attention to the quality of pictures and privilege the faces of our workers

Main features of the new website include:

Responsiveness
The new EFFAT website is mobile responsive. That means that it can be easily accessed via all kinds of platforms and devices. You can read the news or register to an event, even take action whether you are on walking with your mobile, on a train with your tablet or sitting at home or in your office in front of your desktop.

The Homepage
The homepage is the first screen you see when you click on www.effat.org.
There, you should find all you need. It is a shortcut to all links and functionalities of the website.

• A slideshow introduces the most important/recent activities and news, as well as the spotlight
• Below, four photos of workers indicate our sectors and will bring you to the sectoral news agriculture, food, tourism and company work
• At the bottom you are directed to relevant websites of our International and European umbrella organisations and to the financed projects we are carrying out
• And don’t forget to follow us on social media. You can find the link to Facebook and Twitter at the bottom
• The right-hand side column of the homepage captures the last “take action” you can sign, the upcoming events, the campaigns we’re following, and the tweet activities.

Take Action – Stand with our affiliates’ struggles!
The take action button allows you to sign petitions, write letters and show solidarity to other affiliates’ strikes, struggles and demands.
The new functionality allows you to directly sign letters or relevant petitions on the site. The forms will allow EFFAT to collect the signatures and deliver them to the designated affiliates in need of your Solidarity.

Social Media – You can follow our activities online!
The site contains integrated social media buttons for Facebook and Twitter, to foster improved communication with our affiliates. We will be constantly updating our content with helpful information, articles, blogs, news. Clearly you can post as well on Facebook and mention us on twitter.

Events – register in one click!
The new website leans on a third-party platform that is called Eventbrite. It lists all EFFAT events and allows you to electronically register for the events that EFFAT organises (i.e. Executive committee meetings, social dialogue meetings, working groups etc.)
Each sector page displays the sectoral events at the bottom while the general pages displays the general list.
Similarly to the old website you will be able to access the working documents of the event in private mode. That’s why it is really important that you remember your login details! (You will find more on registration in the following section below)
Further information on the events will follow.

Registration to the website
The database of the new website has remained the same so you’re already part of our audience.
As the platform is new, we only ask you to reset your password.
In order to do so please click on the following link:

Password Reset

Please enter your user name (it should be your surname in CAPITAL LETTERS or your email)

Click on ‘Reset your password’ and check your inbox. You should find an email that looks like the one below – (Check your SPAM folder too!)

Click on ‘reset your password’ and fill in the blanks
Please try to choose a secure password containing at least one capital letter, one symbol and one number.
Your password will mainly allow you to access events and working documents.

Where did the old website go?
The old website will be still available for some time at www.old.effat.org.
As we couldn’t transfer all of the old content to the new website, we thought we’d keep the old platform alive for you to consult older news or older documents. Please bear in mind that overtime the old website will NOT be updated but will be used only as an archive. If you can’t find a document please contact the secretariat.

Languages
You will notice that the website is in English only. However, while news will be only in English, attachments and working documents will be available in multiple languages (if possible), namely French and German.

When needed, EFFAT will explore the possibility to use a google translate plugin that can translate the pages you’re reading in your own language (please note that this will be based on Artificial intelligence and the translation might not come out as accurate as it is done by our translators.

As for the newsletters, you will continue to receive them in English, French, German, Italian Spanish and Croatian

I do hope you will enjoy navigating through the new website. Should you have any feedback please get in touch with the Secretariat. Please don’t forget to share that we’re online and spread the news!

As always please come back to me, should you need any further information.

All the best
Maddalena
